Melvyn Smith

Mr. Smith has more than 40 years of international experience and acts as outside consultant to ICM. He is based in London, UK.

During his career, Melvyn has gained wide experience in preparation and prosecution of final accounts and contractual claims under most of the standard forms of main contract and subcontract for contractors and subcontractors and in defence of claims for contractors. He is an experienced expert witness in litigation and arbitration and has been involved in several mediations. He has experience giving evidence under cross-examination and has represented parties in over 30 Adjudications.

Melvyn is experienced in assisting solicitors and counsel in the preparation of statements of case for arbitration and litigation proceedings and in proofing witnesses in their statements. Melvyn acts as quantum expert in arbitration and litigation. Melvyn has extensive international experience carrying out contract administration and preparation and negotiation of financial and extension of time claims on behalf of contractors and sitting as member on international dispute boards. Melvyn’s expertise encompasses major civil engineering, building, oil and gas and MEP projects both in the UK and Internationally.

He was the former Managing Director of Leach Group from 2004 to 2020 and following Leach Group 2018 merger into JS Held also became a Vice President for the Construction Advisory division. Melvyn now operates as Managing Director of Melvyn Smith International Consulting Ltd.
